SCOTTSDALE, AZ (October 16, 2013) – Bikers, wanna-be bikers, bike enthusiasts and music lovers rallied October 11-13 at Harley-Davidson of Scottsdale and Go AZ Motorcycles to have a “blast” and help make a difference. Hosted by spirited Valley entrepreneur and philanthropist Bob Parsons, the second annual Bob’s Biker Blast brought together more than 10,000 people and raised $40,175 for Phoenix Children’s Hospital.

Doubling the gift, Bob Parsons announced that The Bob and Renee Parsons Foundation, which provides critical funding at critical times to organizations striving to make a difference, would match all funds raised through the three-day event. The resulting gift – $80,350.

“Bob’s Biker Blast is a three-day celebration of motorcycling,” said party grand-marshal Bob Parsons. “But it is also about being a good community partner. Phoenix Children’s Hospital plays a critical role in the care and well-being of this community’s children and we are all about helping children.”

The gift is earmarked for The Hope Fund which is the most flexible and valuable way donors can support Phoenix Children’s Hospital. The Hope Fund helps to launch critical new programs, purchase essential equipment, conduct cutting-edge research, provide charitable care and much more.

“As a not-for-profit hospital there are number of programs which rely on events like Bob’s Biker Blast to continue, such as our pet therapy program and onsite school for children who are with us for extended periods,” said Phoenix Children’s Hospital Chief Financial Officer Craig McKnight. “The funds that were raised by Go AZ Motorcycles and Harley-Davidson of Scottsdale and the unexpected match by The Bob & Renee Parsons Foundation will make a significant difference in our ability to provide these critical programs.”

The dealerships have a long history of supporting organizations which address critical needs in the Greater Phoenix Area. Some of the organizations which have benefited from the dealerships’ charitable giving include Make-A-Wish, Scottsdale Healthcare, Arizona Humane Society, 100 Club of Arizona and The Care Fund.

In addition to the funds raised for Phoenix Children’s Hospital, two Spooky Fast custom motorcycles were given-away by Bob Parsons on Saturday evening. After introducing the winners, Parsons excited them even more by announcing he would pay all taxes on the prizes. He didn’t stop there, he also gave each winner $1,000 store credit to ensure both riders are equipped with the proper safety gear.
