2023 Impact Report
Untangling The Mind
Why Focus On Mental Health?

In 2022, we set out on a journey to help address the burden of today’s ongoing mental health crisis.
In 2023, we’ve continued these efforts and are working to deepen our understanding of the tangled web that is mental health in our community – an ever-growing concern that does not discriminate, pull punches, or have a one-size-fits-all solution.
When we reference the web that is mental health, we mean the complicated inner workings of the mind, the intertwined resources required to support people effectively, and how we can work together to help people get and stay well.

Our Why
Learn more about our “why” as it relates to mental health through Bob’s conversation with bestselling author, award-winning podcast host and purpose-driven entrepreneur, Jay Shetty.
Psychedelics
Pursuing 'The Next, Next Thing' Partner Spotlight
UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA BERKELEY
Dr. Gül Dölen has already made her mark in neuroscience and psychedelics with her work on critical periods in the brain at Johns Hopkins University (be sure to watch the video for details on her amazing career to date).
Dr. Dölen’s research has made her a pioneer in these fields because of her passion to look beyond current inquiry and explore what she terms ‘the next, next thing.’
As the newly established Renee & U.S. Marine LCpl Bob Parsons Endowed Chair at UC Berkeley – a tenured professor position focused on the intersection of psychedelic science, psychology, and neuroscience – Dr. Dölen will continue her groundbreaking inquiry on how psychedelics work in the brain and why these substances have such great potential for healing.
Healing Our Community Heroes
Partner Spotlight
100 CLUB OF ARIZONA
When we make a call to 9-1-1, we trust that a first responder will show up to keep us safe, no matter the circumstance. But who takes care of the mental health needs of that first responder after the fact?
That’s where 100 Club of Arizona comes in…to supplement public safety departments’ needs and help first responders and their families stay well in the wake of trauma.
100 Club’s support services include underwriting alternative mental health treatment, like ketamine-assisted therapy, counseling, neurofeedback and more; providing direct financial assistance to families of first responders after a catastrophic event; offering training & resources; and providing stipends for essential safety equipment.
The Ripple Effect
Addressing Mental Health Partner Spotlight
We’ve touched on two major threads in our web above to give you a bit of insight into our work in 2023. That’s the thing about a web – each thread is unique in its own right, but cannot exist on its own. Each is a greater part of the intricate whole.
We recognize that so many of our fantastic community partners weave a thread focused on mental health through services in support of their greater missions – understanding that the holistic needs of a person cannot be met without addressing their mental wellbeing.
SEMPER FI & AMERICA’S FUND was founded 20 years ago to assist combat-wounded, critically ill, and injured service members, veterans, and military families across all branches of the U.S. Armed Forces. The Fund is unique in its commitment to not only the physical health of those it serves, but also their mental and spiritual wellbeing – embracing the whole person and family, for a lifetime.
CHILD CRISIS ARIZONA provides families with the tools they need to keep children and youth safe and free from abuse and neglect through education, shelter, and more. They also provide tailored counseling services because they know the key to a strong family is the mental wellness of all involved.

NATIVE AMERICAN CONNECTIONS has been working for the past 50 years to mitigate mental health, substance abuse, and housing crises in our community. At their emergency shelter sites for youth experiencing homelessness, they not only provide career readiness and educational programs, but also counseling and behavioral health services so that youth can thrive.
TEAM RUBICON is a premier disaster relief organization, powered by a highly skilled volunteer force. Team Rubicon volunteers show up to help out during a community’s worst day. In turn, the volunteers find their own special kind of healing in a close-knit community and purposeful work.
The above is just a snapshot of the many organizations we’re proud to partner with that weave together their programs to uplift the whole person, family, and child. Others include the BOYS & GIRLS CLUBS OF THE VALLEY, ONE•N•TEN, ROSIE’S HOUSE, GIRL SCOUTS–ARIZONA CACTUS-PINE COUNCIL, and so many more.
2023 was a year of learning, growth and, as always, DEALING IN HOPE. As for what lies ahead, we’ll continue to respond as best we can—as a single, interconnected thread intentionally woven into our greater community.
