GoDaddy and The Bob & Renee Parsons Foundation Announce Campaign to Match Up to $1 Million for Semper Fi Fund to Help Injured Service Members.
Web Hosting Company and Charitable Organization to Match Customer Donations Dollar-for-Dollar
SCOTTSDALE, AZ (Nov. 1 2013) – This month marks the 238th birthday of the U.S. Marine Corps—and GoDaddy and The Bob & Renee Parsons Foundation are giving injured and critically ill service members and their families a very special gift. From now through December 31, the charitable foundation and Web hosting company will match donations, dollar-for-dollar, up to $1 million to the Semper Fi Fund.
Donors wishing to double their support for our wounded and critically ill heroes can visit the Semper Fi Fund’s dedicated donation page: semperfifund.org/donate-godaddy/ for donation instructions. Additionally, GoDaddy customers who purchase products through GoDaddy.com during this time period can elect to “Round Up for Charity” during checkout, selecting the Semper Fi Fund as the beneficiary. “Round Up for Charity” allows GoDaddy customers to round up their purchase to the nearest dollar, effectively donating their spare change.
Never forgetting his military roots, GoDaddy Executive Chairman and Founder Bob Parsons, a U.S. Marine Corps Vietnam veteran and a recipient of the Combat Action Ribbon, Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry and Purple Heart Medal, continues to make it a priority to give back to those who have given so much.
“This is a perfect opportunity for all of us to step up and really help veterans who have been critically injured while defending the freedoms we enjoy as Americans,” said Parsons.
“The Semper Fi Fund changes lives,” added Renee Parsons, co-founder of The Bob & Renee Parsons Foundation. “This matching campaign represents an opportunity for GoDaddy customers and Semper Fi donors to double the impact of their gifts – delivering hope to twice as many veterans and their families.”
The matching campaign follows closely on the heels of The Bob & Renee Parsons Foundation’s recent gift of $1 million to the veteran non-profit, bringing their total contribution to the Semper Fi Fund to $2.8 million. GoDaddy and their customers have donated more than $1 million over the past two years.
“We are deeply grateful for the love, passion and support shown by GoDaddy and The Bob & Renee Parsons Foundation,” said Karen Guenther, CEO of Semper Fi Fund, “and for helping the Semper Fi Fund make sure our wounded and critically ill service members and their families are not alone on their long road to recovery. Such dedication to our military members and families is inspirational to all of us. Their contribution is so much more than just a dollar amount – they’re also rallying their communities and raising awareness, which today is more critical than ever. We can’t begin to thank them for all they do.”
GoDaddy, the Web’s largest platform for small business, has a history of supporting veterans with recruiting programs to help hire veterans. “It’s important for us to get behind the men and women who fought for this country,” said GoDaddy Chief People Officer Auguste Goldman. “GoDaddy can help make a difference in the lives of these veterans and their families and the challenge is a great way to honor them for the sacrifices they’ve made.”
