Pledge to Help Semper Fi Fund Doubles to $2MM.
The Bob & Renee Parsons Foundation Steps Up with More $ to Match
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (Dec. 9, 2013) –The Bob & Renee Parsons Foundation is raising the stakes in order to help even more injured or critically ill military service personnel by doubling the matching fund limit from $1 million, up to $2 million to the Semper Fi Fund. This means donations through December 31 will be matched dollar-for-dollar up to another million. The initial charity drive in partnership with GoDaddy, has already reached its goal for $1 million in matching funds almost one month ahead of schedule.
The Semper Fi Fund is a non-profit organization set up to provide immediate financial support for injured and critically ill members of the U.S. Armed Forces and their families. The Semper Fi Fund provides relief for financial needs that arise during hospitalization and recovery, as well as assistance for those with perpetuating needs.
GoDaddy Founder and Executive Chairman Bob Parsons honors veterans every year in his U.S. Marine Corps Birthday Salute and has long made it a priority to give back to those who have given so much.
“The most important things I have ever learned I learned from my Marine Corps brothers and through my service to this country,” said Parsons. “I learned that there is very little we can accomplish alone. By ourselves we are weak, but if there are enough of us and we work together we can move mountains. Together, we have the opportunity to give hope to critically injured veterans through our support of the Semper Fi Fund – something so simple, yet so important, not only in the treatment of an illness or injury but in everyday life.”
Anyone wishing to double their support for our wounded and critically ill heroes can visit the Semper Fi Fund’s dedicated donation page: SemperFiFund.org/Donate-GoDaddy for donation instructions. Additionally, GoDaddy customers who purchase products through GoDaddy.com during this time period can elect to “Round Up for Charity” during checkout, selecting the Semper Fi Fund as the beneficiary. “Round Up for Charity” allows GoDaddy customers to round up their purchase to the nearest dollar, effectively donating their spare change.
The matching campaign follows closely on the heels of The Bob & Renee Parsons Foundation’s recent gift of $1 million to the veteran non-profit. By participating in the matching campaign, GoDaddy and Semper Fi Fund donors have the opportunity to add another million to the foundation’s giving this year, bringing the foundation’s total contribution to the Semper Fi Fund to $4.6 million. GoDaddy, the Web’s largest platform for small businesses, and their customers have donated more than $1 million over the past two years.
“Bob and Renee’s announcement was the best holiday present we could have received,” said Semper Fi Fund CEO Karen Guenther. “Their selfless love for others exemplifies the meaning of ‘holiday spirit’ and Bob makes a pretty good Santa Claus!”
